Walk to marvel at the sceneries of Hangasjärvi and Sallatunturi fell! The Hangasharju Trail takes you to the lookout tower of the beautiful lake in the wilderness of Sallatunturi. There is a lean-to located on the shore of a small pond where you can stop to enjoy snacks and watch the forest life. From the moraine esker located on the northeast shore of Hangasharju, you can find one of Salla’s old deer-trapping pits. The region belonged to the ancient hunting lands, where snares were used to drive the game to the trapping pits. It is unlikely to bump into the bruin itself on this route, since bears are quite good at avoiding people, but the traces they leave on the terrain tell the story of these wild animals.
